Realistic expectations

Natural Preservation

At Pressed Floral, we believe in the beauty of your blooms exactly as nature created them: untouched, authentic, and full of meaning. We are committed to only using natural preservation methods and caring for the earth that grew them. We never use harsh chemicals, artificial colors, or unnatural treatments on our flowers. The flowers we return to you are in their most natural form, but displayed to last a lifetime.

Your blooms will age gently alongside you and your memories. Much like natural keepsakes such as linen or leather, your blooms will also develop a beautiful patina. This page will help you understand what changes you can expect out of your flowers throughout the process.

Color Change After Preservation

Each flower has its own unique chemical makeup, which gives it its distinct color and pigmentation. While your blooms are fresh and have a supply of water, these pigments remain brighter and more vibrant. However, as they are pressed and dried the pigments, such as chlorophyll, carotenoids, anthocyanins, and betacyanins, degrade as they are oxidized.

Preserving White Florals

After preservation, white flowers will gently transform into soft shades of yellow or beige. This is much like an apple turning subtly as it meets the air. As the cells in your blooms are oxidized, those natural warm tones will become more apparent.

Many Floral Preservationists choose not to work with all-white arrangements, due to their tendency to change color throughout the preservation process. While we respect that decision, we believe that every bloom deserves to be cherished forever, and we have happily preserved hundreds of all white bouquets.

Color Change Over Time

At Pressed Floral, we use all-natural methods of floral preservation to capture your unique, significant moments in time. While there is a history of botanicals lasting centuries in herbariums with thousands of species preserved, organic elements of nature will always become more delicate and faded over time - which we believe makes it all the more beautiful.

Pressed Floral combines traditional methods of botanical earth art, and professional modern preservation and framing techniques, so you can have a piece of art that lasts forever, while gracefully aging with you.

the beauty in your aging piece

With time, your flowers will softly fade, their colors maturing into gentle hues that carry the beauty of aged memories.

More uniform arrangement More Variety in blooms

Understanding Variety and uniformity

Something to keep in mind when creating your arrangement is whether you prefer dimension and variety in a frame, or a simple and uniform look.

Arrangements that showcase more variety of bloom sizes, colors, greenery, and textures allow the final design to have more movement. If this is the style you prefer, ensure your arrangement has adequate filler flowers, colors, and blooms types.

If your bouquet is more uniform, we can still design stunning frames to showcase those blooms. Expect the final pressed frame to look more symmetrical or geometric, as there are less types of flowers to add movement. These types of bouquets can create elegant and simple pressed frames, that house the memories from your event.

At Pressed Floral, we love both uniformity and variety in arrangements, and are committed to creating a custom fine art piece that you will cherish.
